International Links

Equality and diversity are actively promoted at The Broxbourne School. Our curriculum and PSHE programme prepare pupils to contribute to wider life in Britain but we are also proud of the awareness developed by our strong international links.

  • The Broxbourne School's curriculum intent states we support our students to "develop appreciation of what it means to be human in a diverse world" and to "understand how the world works on a local and global scale".
  • Ofsted (2023) noted "Pupils are proud of the diversity which exists within the school. Those from many backgrounds mix together happily". Ofsted (2024) also observed that "Pupils treat each other with the highest levels of respect and tolerance. This is because it is such an important part of school culture".
  • The school’s International School programme has involved partnerships, visits, sporting events and exchanges with Japan, Canada, New York, Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Cyprus and Malta. Such links, including a link with Uganda, help pupils appreciate their position in the global context in preparation for life in modern Britain. Each year the school hosts Japanese pupils from Ritsumeikan School in Kyoto
  • The British Council has accredited the school five times with the International School Award, commenting "You provide your students with an impressive range of international activities that help them learn about different countries, their cultures and their languages. Congratulations on working so hard to coordinate such an impressive range of work".
  • In Black History Month, prominent Black historical figures from across the world are celebrated in lessons, through form time, on the main atrium displays and in assemblies to year groups.
